“SWANSONG”

World Premiere April 27th 2000
Dance Mission Theater, San Francisco, USA
40 minutes

"SWANSONG" explores the concept of nostalgia through the lens of classical ballet, in which nostalgia becomes a haven where we hide in times of change and uncertainty. Dual video projections, created by Mr. Paasonen and David Jude Thomas, create a frame of polarity where universes natural and artificial, old and new, vast and infinitesimal collide. A complex audio tapestry includes classical ballet music that has been electronically altered and woven into a composition that is simultaneously futuristic, organic, and classical.
